Consulting
Because I am in the classroom every day, I am not available to come to schools and districts as other consultants do. However, I have worked with some districts or groups in ways that have proven useful and interesting to us both. Here are some ways I might help you, your department, your school, or district:
- Arrange one or more phone or online conferences during which we discuss instruction or curriculum. For example, one large suburban district asked me to read and respond to early drafts of their English Language Arts curriculum. I wrote up my observations then we arranged a phone conference to discuss their plans and my remarks on a conference call with teachers and district administration.
- Schedule one or more conversations about a particular area of instruction. For example, I have had a variety of such discussions online or via telephone during which we discussed problems with underachieving readers and how these might be addressed.
- Set up a video chat with a department or group around a specific subject. Teachers can then follow up in their department or school to apply the ideas and suggestions.
- Provide ongoing support and feedback to teachers as they create new curriculum or an instructional unit. As questions arise, the teachers or curriculum designers can arrange to discuss their ideas or get feedback on them as they work.
- Consider other ideas that might arise but which I cannot imagine here. If you have a situation and think I can help, get in touch and, if I am able, I will be grateful for the chance to work with you.
